L’interesse nei confronti del benessere animale è principalmente rivolto all’individuazione di marker quali indicatori misurabili di condizioni di stress dovute a pratiche gestionali (es tipo di stabulazione, trasporto), esercizio (cavallo sportivo) o trattamenti illeciti. Nel corso del tempo tali studi hanno visto la collaborazione tra settori diversi a livello dipartimentale.
